After going back and forth on options, here's what our team settled on after a 6-month review:

For kitchen and pantry areas on office floors, we went with 30–87L pedal-operated bins. The hands-free operation is non-negotiable in food preparation zones — hygiene standards in our building require it.

For public corridors and lobby areas, stainless steel cans with swing lids gave us the clean aesthetic the building owner wanted without sacrificing durability.

The real turning point was the loading bay. We'd been using domestic-grade containers and they were falling apart within months. We switched to heavy duty waste bins in the 660L–1100L range and the difference has been dramatic — better mobility, proper lid sealing, and they're holding up against the daily abuse from our service teams.

For anyone outfitting a similar setup in the UAE or GCC, I'd strongly recommend sizing up rather than down. The cost difference between a 240L and 360L bin is marginal; the operational difference is significant when you're dealing with high daily waste volumes.

Happy to answer questions from anyone planning a commercial refurbishment or new build waste strategy.
